It's been about 18 months since Rose and The Doctor said their goodbyes on Bad Wolf Bay, and neither have been quite whole since. The Doctor has continued to travel, but not alone as he told Rose, he seems to need someone to stop him.
He spent a year travelling with Martha Jones, encountering Macra, William Shakespeare, the reborn Master and many others. After Martha left him, the Doctor then went on to travel with Donna Noble for six months, meeting Agatha Christie and many others before she left him and Martha returned.
Rose still hardly speaks about the 'D Word' and when she does, she drops and/or breaks whatever she's holding, runs out the room in tears and doesn't return for about half an hour. The first few months were tough, but her family have helped her through the process of returning to normal life, and it seems she's recovering well.

It's the year 2008 and Martha and the Doctor are getting on well again. The Doctor still remembers Rose's beautiful smile and her unique personality in his dreams, he's finding it very hard to let go, but it seems he'll have to. The Doctor is mentioning Rose less and less, but she still crops up in conversations now and then, so it seems there's still three people in this relationship. The Doctor may still have Rose's purple top from all those months ago, and Martha may have finally come to terms with the fact she and the Doctor can never be as 'close' as they were, but it doesn't stop her having fun with him. It seems nothing can stop these happy companions..

Rose is still working for Torchwood and is soon to be promoted to head of her department. Of course she still lives with her parents and her baby brother Billy. There's another baby on the way but there's plenty of room in Pete's lavish mansion, he's still going strong with his wacky inventions.
Mickey visits often, and Rose and him are closer than ever. They both know dating is out of the question and neither have met anyone else since the Doctor left them forever.
Rose continually has dreams of her times with the Doctor, and the same phrase comes back to her memory.. "Never say never."
But of course, the Doctor can't come back. Can he..?
